Exploring the local markets of Lombok’s southwest is a beautiful way to experience the island beyond the villa, and to bring a little of that energy back with you. Scattered through nearby villages, these markets are full of life. Stalls overflow with vibrant tropical fruits, freshly picked vegetables, fragrant herbs, spices, and the day’s catch, all set against the hum of daily local life and warm, welcoming smiles.

If you feel like slowing things down, you can wander through, select your own ingredients, and return to the villa to create something simple and nourishing in the fully equipped kitchen. It’s a different kind of indulgence. One that feels grounded, sensory, and quietly connected to place.

Restaurant Recommendations

Dining out in this part of Lombok is a little more adventurous, and all the more memorable for it. Many of the most beautiful restaurants are tucked within boutique resorts or scattered across the smaller Gili islands that dot the archipelago, meaning getting there often involves a short boat ride across calm, turquoise waters. It’s not just a dinner reservation, it’s an experience in itself. The journey, the arrival by sea, and the sense of discovery all add to the occasion, making every meal feel considered, special, and entirely worth the effort.

Sand Restaurant

Set on the tranquil shores of Gili Asahan, Sand Restaurant offers a relaxed, island-style menu blending Mediterranean, international, and Indonesian flavours. Fresh seafood, seasonal produce, and simple, well-executed dishes take centre stage, with plenty of vegetarian and lighter options. It’s effortless, nourishing dining designed to be enjoyed slowly, ideally with ocean views and a sunset in the background.

Getting There…

Reaching Sand Restaurant on Gili Asahan from The Pinnacle is part of the experience, and a beautiful one at that. From the villa in Sekotong, it’s a short drive of around 10–15 minutes to the local harbour (typically Tawun or Lembar area), where a private boat can be arranged. From there, it’s a quick 15–25 minute crossing across calm, turquoise waters to Gili Asahan.

For something a little more adventurous, Nautilus Restaurant makes lunch or dinner feel like part of the experience. Located on Gili Asahan at Gili Asahan Eco Lodge, this unique island restaurant is reached by boat from the Sekotong coastline, with the journey from The Pinnacle Villa Lombok taking approximately 30 minutes by boat.
